Beginners/ Resellers Guide to our brilliant Infrared heating
Infrared is the future of low cost and the most effective and efficient heating
Firstly, Keep it Simple. It does not have to be complicated.
Genuine Infrared is all about providing people with the cheapest and most effective way to heat their homes, especially those in fuel poverty.
Our infrared heating Made in Austria by Heat4All is the best quality infrared heating available anywhere in Europe
Heat4All infrared panels will heat any given area with a lower wattage than any other infrared product. i.e. 41 watts per square metre for a normal 2.3m ceiling.
All of our panels can be individually controlled by a thermostat which is programable for up to 6 times a day over the whole week. It is also possible to control the panels via an App. through our Homematic system.
Heat4all manufactures two infrared systems namely Smartline and Iconic. Please follow the links to view their website and get full details.
We decided five years ago to sell the Smartline system in the UK as it is more than effective and efficient for the UK market. It is also the less expensive infrared of the two systems and has a thickness of 16mm only against 21mm.
The quality of the product is second to none. Having seen the product being made by hand in Vienna we can vouch for that. Every panel is also quality control checked and given a reference number before despatch.
It comes with an Eight-year Warranty but has a life span of up to 40 years.
Absolutely no maintenance is required so a huge cost saving every year.

ADVICE
We have found a way to reduce the cost of heating your home by installing our brilliant infrared heating panels, made in Austria by Heat4All.
Advice to all Churches who wish to decarbonize and reduce their heating bills.
Before you take any action to decarbonize and try to reduce your heating bills please ask our advice.
We suggest this because we are aware that a Church in London spent £6million on supposed decarbonization and new heating when they could have had brilliant heating provided by our infrared heating for £34,000 only
They could have saved £5.96 million from the Church of England decarbonization budget of £190 million.
Heating in Churches need only be working when parishioners are in the Church for services so probably only six hours at the most each week.
If heat pumps are used to replace gas/oil they need to work 24/7 to provide any heat for any service. While they are doing that it is costing money that could otherwise be used for something more useful. In essence it is waste.
If Churches are able to install solar panels on the roof all solar provides is electricity so if gas heating is retained as in the London Church that is a complete waste of money.
To give you an idea of the cost of heating a Church with our brilliant Extreme Line infrared :-
The London Church is 1200 square metres and the cost was £34,000 plus installation. If you measure your Church against those figures you should be able to obtain roughly the cost to buy our extreme line infrared heaters.
To be entirely accurate you will need to send the measurements to us for us to provide an accurate specification so you know exactly the cost to buy.
So far as running costs are concerned that is determined by the cost to you of a kWh of electricity x hours per day x heating days x (wattage / 1000). In essence using the heating system just six hours per week between October and May it will result in very low heating bills.
Again, we can provide exact detail for you if you let us have the figures.

Great News for all owners of oil and/or gas boilers
We have found a way to reduce the cost of heating your home by installing our brilliant infrared heating panels, made in Austria by Heat4All.
During the Winter of 2022/3 over 213 days, we heated the parts of our house we use, namely 73 square metres with six infrared panels at a cost to buy of £2,000. Over that period, we used 2,280 kWhs at a cost of £410.
Over the previous Winter we used our oil central heating in the same areas at a cost of use of about £2,200. We therefore had a saving of £1,790.
The payback period was about 13 months against a payback period if you installed an air source heat pump of over ten years.
Infrared heating is instant radiant heat just like the Sun. It heats people and objects and not the air. It is therefore not wasteful as with convection heat from radiators. That is why the cost of use is so low as there is no warm up period required. The heat does not escape through walls, windows or doors so insulation is not of paramount importance. We have our infrared heating in a Victorian office/factory which is draughty and without insulation. Our heating works so well that the housebuilder whose offices they are, has just ordered 450 panels for a new development in Nottingham.
Our infrared heating will work in 95% of homes. Our house was built in 1960 with Yorkshire stone and has no insulation. We have sold to all sorts of other homes and our heating has provided all the heat required. We have had customers coming back to order more.
Installation is simple, usually one panel per room up to 24 square metres. One panel can be installed in less than an hour by one electrician, and you can buy from one panel upwards to a whole house. It is not necessary to buy more than one panel at a time if you do not have the budget. You can buy panel after panel if you want.
We offer 5 different size wattage panels starting at 170 watts to 1000 watts at a price of £258.91 to £519.78 plus delivery.
All we require from you is to email us the room measurements and ceiling heights. We will send you the same day free of charge a specification of purchase costs and estimated usage costs with no obligation to buy.

1st October 2022
We have got to the Energy Price Cap of £2,500.
Liz Truss and Rees Mogg have just realised that the Cap does not stop the cost of energy to the consumer going over £2,500. They thought it did but the real truth is that if you use more energy above the cost of £2,500 you will actually pay more.
Truss also believes that it is reasonable to pay up to £2,500 to heat your home. Obviously, she has never met any of the 50% of the UK population who cannot afford £2,500 to heat their homes.
I have not worked out who can afford to heat their homes and eat on the lowest income. Is it £30,000, £40,000 or £50,000 or above? The average income being around £26,000. Perhaps the OBR will let us know.
This huge heating cost problem is not going to go away. It will be the same next year and the year after and in the meantime, what is the Government doing to reduce our reliance on energy? Not a lot is the answer.
Their solution at the moment is to obtain gas from the North Sea, even though in 27 months according to current policy no new gas boilers will be allowed. By the way they will be forced to change this policy as the current policy of heat pumps everywhere will not produce. Fracking is another of their ideas but that will not produce anything like the amount of energy we need, especially when locals will not allow fracking to happen.
It would seem that the Government, in particular Truss and Kwarteng, have never heard of solar PV and infrared. Many others have and are about to receive the benefit of zero carbon, near zero heating bills. A bill of £300 a year I estimate, or even less if the solar PV and batteries are up to scratch.
Heads in the sand are no longer an option in this acute situation. We need action by Government, Housebuilders, Housing Associations, Retrofitters, private individuals to get behind solar PV and infrared. If they do it will make a big start in reducing our need for energy along with the desire to pay less for energy.
Revolutionary Heating for the heating cost crisis
Now we are in the middle of a heating cost crisis we need some radical thought. Not just words to supposedly reduce VAT, cut tax etc., which according to economists will not make any huge difference to what people will have to pay to heat their homes.
There is absolutely no way that those supposed actions will result in reducing a £3,650 heating bill by more than a few £hundred.
We therefore need to be radical to achieve heating bills between £600 and £1,000 a year for most people.
Our radical idea, although we do not really believe it is radical as it is so obviously sensible is to purchase one of our infrared panels at a time. You can heat one room at a time thus overtime reducing the gas heating bill for each room down to zero for gas. It seems that most people live in the kitchen/diner so that would be the first room to heat, and then the living room, bedroom and so on.
Our panels come in five different sizes depending on size of room and they cost between £255 to £503 for the largest panel to heat a room up to 24 square metres. Those prices reduce when volume is ordered. We can advise you on that.
Now is the time to make the decision to move from gas to our infrared as, when the cold weather hits, the demand will be so great we will be struggling to keep up.
We are open 8am to 8pm seven days a week for advice and for the production of heating specifications. All we need from you are the room sizes and we will then advise the number of panels and cost.
A Better idea for Companies giving employees £1,000 for cost of living!
While it is a great and noble idea to give employees £1000 to help with the cost of living crisis, as many Companies are now doing, that sum represents 2.6% of the average salary.
We believe that a far better idea would be to provide each employee who pays a heating bill the opportunity to buy our brilliant infrared heating to heat their homes and save £thousands on their heating bill, which will be a far better option than receiving £1,000.
An average 4-bed house can have our infrared heating panels and thermostats for around £2,200, depending on volume. Those houses can be heated according to our heating formula for around £600 a year. The savings will therefore be enormous once the new energy cap becomes live.
Companies can provide either a grant or a loan to their employees for the purchase of the infrared system. That is their decision.
If you like the idea please get in touch!
How Infrared Heating Works
Infrared heaters do not warm the air but use direct heat, warming the walls as well as all bodies and objects within a room. The heat stored within the walls and the furniture is then re-emitted evenly. All this is a completely natural process, just like when basking in the sun. When using an infrared heater people in the room will start to feel warm within minutes after turning the panels on.
Opening a window, fresh air can be let in without any adverse effects as the heating will stay in the room. Thanks to the heat emitted by the infrared heater itself as well as the heated objects within the room, the perceived room temperature is about 2-3° C warmer than when using convection heating, like heat from radiators. In short, infrared heating saves energy as it is only on when required unlike convection heat which requires a warming up period. The gentle infrared heat allows for more comfort and reduced heating costs thanks to its faster heating effect as well as fewer required hours of operation.

Cost of heating Crisis! - updated figures
Gas £4000 per year / 2023
Infrared £600 per year or less!
It is just three months before the gas energy bill goes up to £2,800 a year and according to Ofgem another three months after that the energy bill will go up to £4,000 a year. Serious thought is required for heating this coming Winter. There is sufficient anecdotal evidence that millions of people are unable already to heat their homes. Some 40% apparently. When October and then January arrives, that situation will get worse.
We believe there is no point in installing / retrofitting gas boilers or indeed heat pumps when consumers cannot afford the heat produced.
In the circumstances however we have been looking to see if our infrared heating can reduce heating bills to a level that most consumers can afford.
We are very pleased to tell you that we think we can. Please see examples: -
The below calculations are made using this formula -
Hours usage per day x Heating days p.a. x (wattage / 1000) x Price per KWh
The average Price per KWh = £0.28, Standing charge per day = £0.40
These figures may differ depending on where you live within the UK.

California Gold Rush to Infrared Heating Rush!!
The California Gold Rush (1848-1855) began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. The news of gold brought approximately 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and abroad.
In 1800 Sir William Herschel discovered Infrared.
In 2022 the UK and the rest of Europe need a modern-day Rush to infrared heating following the huge increases in energy prices since January and by next January 2023. Around £4000 a year for gas.
It makes absolutely no sense to continue to install and or use gas boilers when the majority of people will not be able to afford gas because of the huge prices increases. Up to £4000 a year it is suggested from January 2023.
Some people have realised that already as we are now getting a steady stream of enquiries for infrared. Just last week one for a Grade Two listed property in Sussex with almost 200 square metres to heat, where the oil boiler needs replacing. The owner told us that he does not want a new oil boiler as the cost of running if would be impossibly high. He has chosen infrared instead where the cost to buy will be below £5000 and the cost of running around £800 a year.
Although we are getting individual people enquiring, we are not getting housebuilders or retrofitters in any great numbers enquiring, even though they must know the current diabolical and future heating situation. In Europe that is not the case, where consumers have woken up to the existing problem. Our colleagues in Austria and across Europe are now receiving enquiries from major organisations as well as individuals as gas is being rationed and is more expensive even than in the UK.
Get in touch and we will help you along the road to less worry and expense of heating your home or the homes of your customers.

BE PREPARED!
In 1960 and again in 1962 I attended Hendon Police Training School to be trained to become a Metropolitan police officer. I can still remember most of the training, including how to deal with an aircraft crashing in the streets of West London before getting to Heathrow. Mind blowing stuff and it happened in 1972 when a BEA Trident crashed in Staines killing all 118 people onboard.
We had to be prepared for anything from a fight on the street to a major incident.
These thoughts are with me today about being prepared for future heating as gas and oil have become too expensive to buy to heat homes.
I have further thoughts that infrared panels do not grow on trees as they have to be manufactured with steel. Steel is not actually in abundance so I am told and the price is rising all the time.
In Austria and Germany, at the moment and no doubt for the future, gas is being rationed by Putin and by price. Gas in Austria is now 400% more expensive this year than last. Consumers are fleeing gas to infrared according to my colleague at Heat4All, who in his nine years of trading has never seen such interest in his infrared. He is even having to go up to 15 times a week to visit people who need his infrared. His agents in Austria and Germany are having to do the same.
Here in the UK, we are close to that stage where 40% of consumers are not able to afford to pay for gas and oil, according to the CEOs of Ofgem and Eon. Last Winter was the last time I am using oil and this September changing to a total infrared house. My oil bill last year was £1000 and this year it would exceed £2000. That is not sustainable.
It is my view that change has to happen now in the UK before it is too late. People who are responsible for putting heat into homes need to be prepared to move from gas to infrared as soon as they can otherwise there will not be enough infrared panels to go around. Just take one block of 180 flats with six panels in each flat that is 1080 panels. One housing estate with 400 houses with ten panels in each house that is 4000 panels and so on.
Say we were minded to cancel all gas boiler installations from now. On average each property has eight rooms needing eight infrared panels, that would be 1.7Million x 8 =13.6Million panels every year. Impossible! However, a start needs to be made!
I hope that you understand what I am putting forward about being prepared. You need to start now to move from gas to infrared otherwise the queue will be so long it will be like getting an operation on the NHS. Some 6.5 million people are apparently waiting for an operation.
We are here to help. You only need to get in touch and we will help you through the process. It is not that difficult!

Sleepwalking into a heating disaster
It is just 30 months before gas boilers are supposed to be outlawed. It is possible that the Government will be forced to retract their desire to cover the UK with heat pumps to replace gas boilers.
We do not have enough heat pumps nor heat pump installers to replace 1.7milllion gas boilers a year. Heat pumps are not the answer anyway to replace gas boilers for all the reasons set out over a long period now on LinkedIn.
Just to add to the problem we now hear that we are short of solar panels. Apparently not enough are being made to provide the best possible energy source. I have said for some time that the solar industry in the UK is not fit for purpose and so it seems to be proved. I have tried to work with various solar Companies to provide zero carbon very low heating bills when linked to our infrared but none of them are up to it. They appear not to have the vision, ability or the financial backing to get anywhere with the massive solar opportunity staring them in the face.
As one university academic in Aberdeen keeps saying 'every new property in the UK should have solar PV on its roof'. I agree as it is the most logical thing to do for reducing carbon emissions.
Where is the Government in all this? Nowhere to be seen. Somebody in government and indeed in the business World should have the gumption to get behind both the solar industry and the infrared industry to bring both up to where they need to be.
We will do our best in the infrared industry but others need to wake up and get on with the solar requirement, otherwise we will have a disaster on our hands between now and 2025.

Cost of Infrared Heating for office space of 620m2
We would suggest that from the information given below you should be able to calculate the required heating and number of panels needed to heat your offices with our infrared. If you find, as the client did below, that your heating bill with your current heating system exceeds the figures below pro rata you need to change your heating to our infrared heating.
The cost of 97 panels each 600 x 600 mms comes out at £14,965 net so the cost of buying our infrared heating to heat such a large office is minimal. The cost of any other heating option in our view would far exceed and probably be double the cost if not more.
The below is an actual calculation for a Company which wishes to move from gas producing warm air, which apparently is a very ineffective heating system against our infrared.
With the formula below you should be able to calculate your own requirements and the costings, but we are always available to help calculate exactly the number of panels you will require, the cost of buying them and the running costs. Just get in touch!
Wattage
To calculate the wattage and from that the number of panels required -
620m2 x 50 watts per m2 = 31,000 watts / 320 watts per panel = 97 panels each 600x600mms in either a suspended ceiling or placed on a solid ceiling
Running Costs
The formula to work out annual running costs is: -
Number of heating days per annum x hours running per day x kWh x cost per kWh + (365 x daily standing charge)
The total wattage used to heat a space is divided by 1000 to give the kWh number for the formula.
A sample costing could be -
130 days (26 weeks x 5 days per week) x
7 hours per day average x
31 kWh x
£0.28 per kWh
= £7,898.80 + daily standing charge.
(The above figures will change according to the local cost for kWh and daily standing charge. This is a matter for your client to calculate to apply to their office space.)
Over to you!

Personal Loans to buy infrared Heating
After a Teams Meeting with a major UK Bank, it appears quite possible that Personal Loans will be available for people to buy our brilliant infrared heating, enabling them to move away from gas and massively reduce their heating bills.
The Bank concerned want to complete their own research and then have another Meeting to discuss the mechanics of setting up a special Personal Loan Scheme.
It is a great shame that the Government is not doing the same, instead of wasting £5,000 each time on the Boiler Upgrade System (BUS). There is absolutely no point in doing that as now consumers have to find another £5,000 to £10,000 of their own money. If they have that sort of money to buy an air source heat pump while they are paying in excess to heat their homes.
Probably a year ago I did put my idea of a Personal Loan Scheme to Government, long before the energy prices started to go through the roof. I suggested that they set up an Agency similar to Companies House, whereby they loaned consumers the £2000 or so required over a 24-month period to equip their property with our brilliant infrared heating. The idea fell on deaf ears while those ears were stuck in the sand.
It is good to see that at least the commercial market is aware that something has to happen to help people survive the next Winter and not freeze to death.

Cost of heating Crisis! - Intelligent use of heating!
Over many years we have been able to turn on the heating and not worry too much about the cost. That has all changed now. People in very large numbers, some estimate half the Country by October 2022, will not be able to turn their heating on as they will not be able to afford to pay the bills.
It has been interesting in the last few days, when meeting with Housing Associations, that they are now more concerned about their tenants not being able to afford to pay their rent and at the same time pay for their heating. Decarbonisation is now taking second place.
The current situation has arisen in the last three months and does need to be sorted out before it is too late. Failing to take proper action will see a catastrophe developing where there will be huge debt increases in rent arrears and indeed mortgage arrears.
I was a County Court Advocate for seven years up until 2014 and in that time met many hundreds of people, who had mortgage arrears and rent arrears. When I took income and expenditure statements from them probably 90% were in hopeless debt, and not in a position to hold on to their homes. I cannot imagine what it must be like now in 2022. Based on 2014 and the energy price increases in 2022 many thousands of people will be losing their homes if nothing is done to reduce the cost of heating by a very large extent.
One way to achieve the cost reduction in heating bills is to become a lot more intelligent about the way in which heating is used. In the past I believe that we have all been guilty of just turning on the heat in every room, some of which we never use on a daily basis, wasting heat and money. In my own house for example I have a 20 square metre dining room with two radiators which we use for 20 minutes for breakfast and 30 minutes for dinner. The rest of the day the room is not used but in Winter the heating is on in that room from 6.30am to 8pm. Absolutely crazy!
Last winter was the last Winter for that to happen. This coming Winter there will be one infrared panel on the ceiling, which will only operate for one hour a day, while the room is being used for eating. This new arrangement will save masses of energy and cost. We will do the same in every room that is used. Last year the cost of our oil was around £1000 and this year will be around £2000. That cost will disappear and the cost of heating, because of the intelligent use of infrared, should fall to around £600 a year.
Everybody out there, whether they be tenants or houseowners, can take advantage of the new situation by installing infrared panels one by one in each room they use. It can be done either that way, so that the gas/oil bill reduces pro rata. Alternatively, the whole house/flat can have a complete infrared system installed for around £2000 for a normal 4-bed property, or less depending on size of property. That way the heating bill will reduce dramatically straightaway to around £600 or less a year.
May I suggest there is no point in delaying the decision to move from gas to infrared for two reasons. One, the cost of gas/oil is not going to come down. Two, the sooner you order our infrared heating the better, as there is a finite supply of infrared in the quantity and quality that will be required.
We are open 8am to 8pm seven days a week to take your phone calls and emails to advise you on the best way forward. To provide all the information you will require on infrared heating and the benefits it will provide. We just need to know your room sizes, email address and your phone number so that we can write to you with a Specification and discuss your requirements.

IRG is now moving into office and factory space heating
Obviously, it is not only domestic properties that will need heat next Winter. Office and factory premises will as well to reduce the enormous cost of heating with gas or oil.
We are now being asked to provide Quotations for offices and factories so that businesses can heat with infrared and save huge money.
We have just provided a Specification for a Company with an office space of 620 square metres to heat the whole area with 97 infrared panels 600x600mms. All the panels inserted in the suspended ceiling at the total net cost of £14,945.30. Running costs of £7,898 a year or less with solar PV.
If there is a cheaper more practical way of heating an area of 620 square metres, we would love to hear about it.
There are no radiators to take up wall space. The heat will be distributed evenly across the office. There is no extra cost for servicing as no servicing is required. The life span of the panels will be up to 40 years so no replacement monies are required until the end of that period.
In fact, you could say Infrared heating in an office space is a Winner on all counts and cannot be beaten economically, practically or by any other option. IR provides the most effective and efficient heating for the people working in the office space.
If you have an office or factory space that will need heating this coming Winter, and you do not wish to pay huge sums for heating, please send us your floor plans with measurements and ceiling heights, and we will supply you a Specification at no charge.

Gas £2800 per year
Infrared £600 per year or less!
We believe there is no point in installing / retrofitting gas boilers or indeed heat pumps when consumers cannot afford the heat produced.
It appears from the recent local Elections that 'Partygate' was not the reason for the poor voting figures for the Conservatives but it was the cost-of-living crisis. Although the crisis is not of the Government making, they were blamed for much higher fuel prices. Fuel prices are governed Internationally not Nationally.

The Bank of England
The Bank of England warns of recession as people will have no money to spend resulting from the huge energy price increases.
One of the most miserable things to put up with is being cold inside your home.
We must do all we can to stop that happening to millions of people. Something like six million back in March. It could well be even more millions in October.
We are a very small Company but we have big ideas. We want to help keep people warm by spreading infrared Heating across the UK in the cheapest way possible. We would like to keep heating bills as low as £600 a year, and less for smaller properties, from the expected bills of £2,800 for gas.
It will not be easy because of the expected demand. If we need additional help to supply proper infrared heating, we will get it.
We are hoping by the end of May to have an option for Personal loans to be available for consumers to purchase infrared to cancel gas. We will not know until we meet with a big five Bank within the next three weeks. They have however already shown interest in the idea.
In the meantime, the Government could start to engage with us to set up a Government Loan Scheme, or even a Grant Scheme for around £2000, saving £3000 for each consumer under the HP Scheme.
Something can be done before it is too late but action is needed now, and not in September, when the cold weather starts to appear again.
To start our scheme, we invite consumers to send us the room sizes they wish to heat. We will then provide a Free Specification of the infrared heating required, with a price and a suggested formula for using the least possible heat to obtain the best possible result. Once we have a Personal loan Scheme in place, we will provide the details to make applications.

Cost of heating Crisis!
Gas £2800 per year
Here in the UK, we are about to experience a very unusual happening. One I cannot remember in my 60 adult years. A Cost of Heating Crisis!
It will be quite possible that half of the Country will not be able to heat their homes because of the huge cost increase of gas and indeed electricity with most electric heating systems.
We believe that because of this phenomenon we must try to help people to keep warm, as nothing is more miserable and unhealthy than living in cold rooms that are liable to become damp and mouldy.
To help as many people as we can we have designed an infrared heating programme to reduce annual bills to around £600 as opposed to £2800 for gas and no doubt more than £2000 for oil.
To save up to £2200 a year it will however require the purchase of our infrared Heating system which for a 4-bed house will cost around £2000. Obviously, a smaller house will not need so much heating and the cost to buy will be less.
However, if £2000 is not readily available unless a Bank or other loan can be arranged, buying infrared panels over a period could be the answer. Buy one panel at a time for one room at a time installing the room used the most and so on. During which time cutting down on the use and cost of gas room by room.
Our panels come in 5 sizes from 175 watts for a small bathroom or Ensuite up to 1000 watts for a room up to 24 square metres. The prices range from £168 up to £356 plus VAT and delivery. For volume over 50/250 panels the prices reduce.

Cost of Living Crisis - Heating Homes
There is nothing that can be done to beat the gas, oil and electricity price increases unless there is new thinking and behaviour in using heating.
If we all continue to heat as we have done for the last fifty years when energy costs were low many millions of consumers will be living in the cold and damp.
We at IRG have therefore decided to try to help in this crisis by offering a way out to consumers by creating a heating plan after purchase of an infrared heating system.
The infrared Heating system will cost around £2000 for a 4-bed house and obviously less for a smaller house or flat. Thereafter the annual heating bill as shown below is around £600 a year against upwards of £2800 per year. In one year therefore the cost of purchase and heating is repaid. In subsequent years the saving is still around £2000 a year.
There is no annual servicing cost, saving another £6400 plus inflation over the life span of our Infrared of 40 years

Fear not the Eco-Trap!
Government failure in their 'Energy Security Strategy' to reduce heating bills
A bodged plan to make Britain's homes more eco-friendly will cost us billions and ministers are refusing to fix it
ISABELLE FRASER Daily Telegraph 15 April 2022 5:00am
It's the £330bn question that will affect every homeowner and buyer - but it is being ignored by the Government.
For more than a year, ministers have been avoiding the issue of the incoming Energy Performance Certificate rules. This seemingly innocuous issue will have a huge impact on the housing market - far more than anyone realises, including ministers.
Their plans will force property owners to shell out thousands of pounds simply to be able to sell up or rent out their home. If they don't make the eco upgrades, it could render their properties un-mortgageable or slash their house price. All this while the biggest cost of living crisis in a generation squeezes incomes to breaking point.
Landlords are the first target. They have been told they must bring their properties up to Band C by 2025 for new leases and by 2028 for existing lets. Around two million landlords will be stung, according to JMW Solicitors, and they will face a total bill of £10bn.
But this is a wider issue: under current plans, lenders will be required to have an average Band C rating for their portfolios by 2030. People with inefficient homes will pay higher mortgage rates and will find it harder to re-mortgage. The rules will force 15 million homeowners to each spend thousands of pounds on home improvements, according to Halifax, as around 60pc of all homes in England and Wales currently have an EPC rating below C. Estate agency Savills has put the bill for bringing every property in Britain up to standard at £330bn. The scale of the upgrade programme is so great that there won't be enough people to carry out the work.
There remain so many unanswered questions. There could be a £10,000 limit on spending per property, but we don't know for sure. The Government may offer grants but has not announced anything yet. There may be exemptions for certain types of property, but this is not confirmed. All landlords know is that they face an eco-red tape nightmare in a few years' time. How can they make upgrades - at the cost of thousands of pounds - and follow the rules if those rules haven't been set out properly?
The Government is also ignoring the other elephant in the room: it has admitted that its EPC system is not fit for purpose, but appears to be forcing people to comply with it regardless. It was designed to reward the use of gas over electricity, but times have changed and the system has not kept up. The upshot is that it penalises people who install heat pumps (which run on electricity) - the very same costly devices ministers are pushing on British homeowners.
We shouldn't be surprised. Every new eco upgrade policy announced has crashed and burned. The Green Homes Grant was abruptly stopped before it could get going. The new boiler upgrade scheme, which offers money so homeowners can buy heat pumps, is limited to helping just 90,000 homes and covers less than half the cost of installation. The Chancellor cut VAT on eco upgrades in the Spring Statement, but costs have risen so much it will barely make a dent.
The Government ended its consultation at the beginning of last year, yet we are still waiting for answers.
We say - Fear Not! It will not be as gloomy as described above because if consumers housebuilders and retrofitters move across to Infrared heating most if not all the problems suggested will not materialise.
Four days ago, we met BRE at the Barratt Z House in Salford and had a long discussion about including Infrared in Appendix Q. It became apparent to us during the discussion that all we will need to prove to BRE to have infrared included in Appendix Q of SAP is to supply evidence of 'Thermal comfort' as the result of heating with Infrared. We asked them write to us setting out their requirements for Infrared to be properly included in SAP. They said that they would do that.
In the meantime, we can tell you that our infrared has been trialled by three major Housebuilders and experienced by many others in their homes. They all say that Infrared heating provides thermal comfort in abundance. It is our view therefore that we only need to dot one more 'i' and one more 't' and we will then be ready for infrared to be included in Appendix Q of SAP.
We have already received an A+ on the SAP/EPC scale for a converted office into residential so nobody needs to be concerned about getting to C and above. We know that is possible with Infrared. All that landlords and housebuilders need to do is to come with us on the road to infrared and reduce the huge costs referred to in the article above. Infrared is the cheapest form of heating both to purchase and to heat. A 4-bed house around £2000 to buy enough panels to heat a ten-room house. A five room flat around £1200. Annual heating bills we suggest when infrared is property used around £800 a year but together with solar PV around £300 a year. Massively less than gas or indeed heat pumps.

Government failure in their 'Energy Security Strategy' to reduce heating bills
As the Telegraph describes today our energy cost crisis is a failure of successive Governments. The Blair Government in 2001 had Wind Farms producing 320MW. In 2021 Wind Farms produced 24GW. A 73-fold increase. However, of that 24GW some 20GW has been produced in the last ten years under a Tory Government. Boris is now wanting to turn the UK into the Saudi Arabia of Wind, producing 40GW by 2030.
This is a great ambition but has come a little late to help consumers today and over the next ten years.
However, fear not, we have a Plan to help consumers with their energy bills. The Plan just needs Government to take up the case for Infrared heating preferably with solar PV and batteries. If they do that, we can achieve near zero carbon and very low heating bills of a few hundred pounds and not several thousand pounds.
Open Email to Matthew Aylott – BEIS - 31st March 2022
Dear Matthew,
I have read your Market Report. It appears to repeat information already in the public domain. 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028. Current cost of a heat pump £10,500. Overall cost to Government/tax payer £6,300,000,000 a year. Who is going to pay for that?
I wrote to you some time ago to say that 600,000 heat pumps a year is a ‘pipe dream’. We are only 5 plus years away from that date and currently only 30,000 are available to be installed during the course of a year. We only have apparently around 2,000 people capable of installing heat pumps. Heat pumps are in short supply as evidenced by an Architect recently wanting 140 heat pumps who was told that they are not available.
Every day now since the beginning of 2022 we have received numerous enquiries for infrared heating as the gas price increases. We have major Housebuilders wanting to move away from heat pumps already as they are not satisfied as to their true value for future heating. They also tell me that the aggravation involved in installation and the unwillingness of consumers to accept heat pumps is a big factor.
I am aware as I have been there that a Housing Association in Sunderland spent over £6M to install GSHPs in seven high rise blocks of flats some 364 flats in all. I was told on my visit last November by two separate tenants that the GSHPs do not work. They take 5/6 hours to get to a heat in the flats of 21C. The monthly cost to them is around £60/70. I subsequently was told by a heat pump guru that heat pumps have to be on 24/7 to work effectively. Who can now afford to do that?
So there needs to be a complete change of heart by Government and BEIS on the way forward. I watched the PM Boris yesterday before the Liaison Committee and he said that we need a lot more off shore wind turbines. He did not seem that keen on heat pumps but spoke a lot about hydrogen which as we know will probably not work for domestic properties as the gas is so thin and will escape.
We in our very small way are trying to introduce a heating system which will work and which is low cost to install. About £2,000 for a 4-bed house. It is cheap to run as you only need radiant heat when you are using a particular room otherwise no heat is required. So, in a ten-room house you only need to heat the kitchen/diner where most people seem to live and a bedroom/s before you use them. It follows that huge amounts of energy are saved as is the cost of the same.
We as you know have our infrared in the Barratts Z house and we know that it is very well liked. There is also infrared in Energy House 2 at Salford University although a lower quality infrared than ours Made in Austria. In the next two weeks I am meeting at the Z House the two guys at BRE who are working with me to include Infrared in the next Edition of SAP.
Further to the above we were asked yesterday to provide a Specification for a 7,698 square metre factory and offices as the owners apparently fear that it will be too expensive to heat their premises with gas going forward. They wish to move to Infrared. That request could be the first of many. What we are doing is all very well but we cannot do it alone. We do have brilliant manufacturers in Vienna who have the money to expand their production by building more factories. Even so if we took your comment when we spoke that 100,000 new builds a year that is 1million panels will have infrared heating it is still a huge ask for that to happen. We need the Government and BEIS behind us and then I will make all the arrangements to increase the production of infrared panels so that the move from gas to infrared becomes a reality. That is all I am asking.

Gas Price Crisis!
Gas Price Crisis!
Oil Price Crisis!
Heat pump availability problems!
Where do we go from here?
300,000 new builds a year plus hundreds of thousands of retrofits. What are we going to use for heating? That is the big question!
Being sensible, currently infrared heating cannot replace 1.7 million gas boilers or 30,000 heat pumps. So, we have another crisis on our hands.
Government and others need to urgently review the current situation as heating costs have rocketed over the last few months and are about to rocket again up to £2800 a year for a domestic property.
We are now receiving enquiries for commercial and factory premises heated with gas, wanting to change from gas as they cannot now afford to heat their premises. No doubt it is the same with premises heated with oil.
It was our intention when we introduced Heat4All products into the UK that we would concentrate only on the Smartline range for houses both new and old. However, times have changed over the last few weeks and we now feel that we need to introduce the Heat4all Iconic Heat Zone infrared heaters into the UK, to provide brilliant heat to commercial/factory premises. Please see below.
The introduction into the UK of these infrared heaters will resolve the heating problem for commercial/factory premises when the owners cannot or will not pay for the huge increase in gas and oil prices.

Understanding the brilliance of Infrared heating!
We have spent the last eighteen months extolling the virtues of our Infrared heating. Many people and organisations have now understood the concept of instant radiant heat achieved through our infrared. They, including many major Housebuilders and others, are now slowly moving towards giving up gas and in many cases heat pumps.
Over the same period, we have produced and published information on our Infrared which has been read by many thousands of people. We have not received one adverse comment. However, we have received a huge number of positive comments from people who have already had the 'infrared experience'. So many comments like 'we are sold on infrared' 'It is absolutely brilliant'.
We know that it is difficult for people to understand a product even though it has been around for decades, but which has never been explained and promoted in the UK. Something that is new to people and not understood always takes time to be accepted. We are pleased to say that every day now 'the page is being turned' and infrared is becoming well known and accepted as the best alternative to gas and now heat pumps.
It is now also the cheapest form of heating, after all the energy price rises, although to work it needs electricity through the Grid or better still through solar PV. Apparently around 50% of electricity is now obtained from renewables. A fantastic step forward and getting better every day.
It is apparent from all the TV programmes on housing most people it seems live in two rooms. One is the kitchen/diner and the other the bedroom. In a house of say ten rooms eight are not being used on a regular basis so they do not need infrared heating to be on when not being used. Heat is therefore being saved in those other eight rooms. If one of those rooms is to be used the infrared heating only need to be turned on five minutes before use. Infrared is instant heat through one panel in each room. It is not convection heat through radiators from either a gas boiler or heat pump. Hopefully you can therefore see that infrared trumps both gas boilers and heat pumps for running costs.
It also trumps gas boilers, now being phased out, and heat pumps for capital cost. A 4-bed house can be heated with our infrared for a capital outlay of around £2,000. It does not need servicing so a saving of at least £160 per year over the 40 years, the approximate life span of our infrared. A saving of £6,400 on today's prices.
As I have written before some commitment has to be shown to take forward infrared as the manufacture of quality infrared is finite. It will probably not be able to satisfy the demand once the demand takes off. We know that our friends in Austria will have to build additional factories on land they already own to satisfy demand both here and across the World.
I would like to suggest therefore that you start the planning now by letting us have some detail of the properties you will need to heat. We can then supply sample specifications in order that you can understand what is involved in numbers of infrared panels and thermostats and the cost of the same delivered to site.

550, top=50, left=150, resizable=yes'); return false;" >Please click to download the 'Email to Lord Callanan, 11th March 2022' flyerDomestic Heating Crisis coming for 2025 and beyond
With the lack of Government action on future domestic heating we will have a domestic heating crisis on our hands by 2025 and beyond.
If the Government stick to their plans of stopping the sale of new gas boilers in 2025 what are consumers, retrofitters and housebuilders to do? What form of domestic heating can people turn to?
Currently we have around 30,000 heat pumps installed each year and by 2025 will that number increase and by how much? If it doubles, which is unlikely, we will still have a massive shortfall.
There are around 300,000 new properties built each year and any number of thousands of properties being retrofitted. So, if we say the heat pump industry can double its heat pump installations to 60,000 a year, we are still left with a shortfall on new properties of around 240,000 and many hundreds of thousands for retrofits. To add to that problem heat pumps are getting more expensive to buy, around £10K, and according to a Report yesterday in the Daily Telegraph around £1300 a year to use to heat from April onwards. The article is available here.
What is the answer you might ask?
The only answer I can find is the requirement for a massive increase in the manufacture and installation of infrared heating. I do not have the current yearly figures for the installation of infrared heating, as they are probably not known, but it will be a lot less than 30,000
The solution to this unsatisfactory situation, especially without a proper alternative to gas, will leave hundreds of thousands of consumers freezing over Winter from 2025 onwards.
We at Infrared Replacing Gas, with the considerable help of our Austrian partners Heat4All, will help to fill the huge gap in heating products, but we will not be able to do it alone. Heat4All will build additional factories but with a market place of probably half a million or more properties a year, some 5 million infrared panels it will be a tall order.
The Government therefore urgently needs to engage with us so that we can arrange the required number of infrared panels to be manufactured each year.
I am not intending this Post to be an alarmist one but a realistic one. We including Government and others cannot continue to 'bury our heads in the sand'. We must start to act now otherwise there will be a domestic heating disaster by 2025 and beyond.

Urgent Government action Required!!
It is now three years to the banning of gas boilers in new homes.
Urgent Government action is required to bring about the huge transition from gas to Infrared/infrared with solar.
Currently there are 240,000 new houses being built a year. Currently there are 30,000 heat pumps being installed a year. Leaving a huge shortfall of 210,000.
By 2025 another 720,000 new houses will have been built and 90,000 heat pumps installed, based on current figures. Leaving an even larger shortfall of 630,000. Very sobering figures, I think that you will agree?
It is patently obvious that heat pumps will not fill the huge gap, so what will?
Will it be infrared/infrared with solar? I think not until both industries get their act together.
Infrared Companies across the board need to sell what is truly infrared and they also need to expand their businesses with outside investment.
Solar Companies need to provide solar PV with batteries, capable of providing all year-round energy, allied to sufficient investment to do so.
We for our part, with the investment and manufacturing provided by Heat4All will provide infrared of the highest quality and service existing.
It is now the turn of Government to take this all onboard and set up a Finance Plan, via a government agency, to allow consumers to purchase solar with infrared, at the cost of £100 per month over 96 months, while enjoying free or very near free heating bills. That arrangement of solar with infrared will achieve zero carbon, which is something we all want.
Please Government, start to think and act positively and get on with the job of transferring from gas to infrared/solar with infrared over the next three years.

Infrared heating will stop/eradicate damp and mould
It is not necessary for people, particularly Housing Association tenants, to have to suffer damp and mould. HAs need to get working on this hideous problem asap!
Some 37% of households apparently have damp and mould which is very injurious to their health and wellbeing. See what the NHS say below.

Boris's Heat Pump Plan - Badly advised by BEIS
As you will have seen from the Media and social media Boris was badly advised by his advisors, BEIS. Yesterday there were articles in newspapers and Posts on LinkedIn that have put the heat pump 'revolution' into context. Please read on.
It is a case of simple arithmetic: 1.7million gas boilers a year to be replaced by 2000, or thereabouts, heat pump engineers with one heat pump each a week to install times 50 weeks a year = 100,000 heat pumps. That figure is 250% higher than the current number yearly heat pump installations.
100,000 heat pumps a year is 1.6million short of target, leaving aside heat pump installations in new builds and Ground source heat pumps, which take more than a week to install with more than one heat pump engineer.
Unfortunately, in haste for COP26 there has not been enough thought put into the process of moving from gas boilers to alternative heating.
Even the heat pump industry said yesterday that the Plan is flawed. An article in the Daily Mail on Wednesday, 20th October, slated the idea of heat pumps
Yesterday I received a phone call from someone I had never heard of before, who told me he wondered whether we are at the start of the compensation era for heat pumps being 'oversold'.
It is a terrible shame that Boris was not properly advised by BEIS before he made the heat pump announcement, as they know we have the solution to the move from gas. They in fact told me, months ago, that they expected 100,000 houses a year to have infrared heating installed.
I acknowledge that both the solar and infrared industries need to wake up to the huge potential of making the move from gas, as available as possible to everybody. Big players with money, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and others, not yet in the heating industry, need to enter the solar market. In particular to set up manufacturing plants in the UK so that solar with infrared from Austria can start at least to replace the 1.7million gas boilers every year.
I also noted yesterday that Clarion Housing are spending a fortune on upgrading houses with triple glazing, massive insulation etc. just to keep tenants warm. That is absolutely unnecessary with infrared heating. Huge amounts of money can be saved using infrared heating. Infrared heating does not escape through windows, doors and walls. It stays within the rooms.
The solution is very simple. Nothing needs to be so complicated. The costs of solar with infrared are so much less than heat pumps. We have a Finance Plan to roll out solar with infrared to the masses. Just £100 per month over 96 months, while paying nothing for heating during and after that period. Government just needs to put some proper thought into my suggestions and then get on with implementing them for the benefit of everybody in the UK.
